NEW ZEALAND!!!!!

I am going to New Zealand to study this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEW ZEALAND
Summer Overseas Study
June 11 - July 1, 2010

Christchurch, the South Island's largest city, which is
located at the edge of the South Pacific Ocean and is a
mere 30 miles from the Southern Alps.
Opportunities to travel throughout the South and
lower North Islands, including places such as,
Queenstown, the outdoor adventure capital of the world
and Wellington, New Zealand's lively capital.
New Zealand is famous for its outdoor lifestyle and
geographic diversity, with snow-lined mountain ranges
hugging the coastline, deep fjords on the West Coast and
glaciers in the Alps, crystal-blue snow-fed lakes in the
wild windswept plains, and activities such as mountain
biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, snow-boarding, and bungeejumping
are all available to any modern traveler. In
addition, New Zealand is fast becoming a cosmopolitan
country. Known for its innovation, New Zealand has a
vibrant fashion and art culture, with much emphasis
placed on Maori and Polynesian culture and perspective.
ACCOMMODATIONS
I will reside at Hotel S0, a new, 284-room
designer hotel in central Christchurch. Hotel S0 is a new
generation of hotels; eco-friendly, spirited and smart, with
free wireless internet, high-speed internet, gymnasium,
sauna, business centre, satellite TV, and a comfortable,
relaxed café onsite.

Located in the heart of Christchurch, Hotel S0 is within
walking distance of boutique fashion shops and the
hottest entertainment precinct in Christchurch, Sol
Square.
DAY TRIPS AND TOURS
As the daily schedule shows, the Alabama in New Zealand
Program will, as a group, go on occasional full-day and
half-day outings. From Christchurch we will have a
half-day tour of the rural Waimakariri district and visit a
sheep farm. Also, on another day, we will have a full-day
outing to Hamner Springs, a natural hot-spring in the
Hurunui district. We'll also make use of Christchurch's
metro bus service and visit historic Lyttelton, Sumner
Beach, Banks Peninsula, and other historic areas.
OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS
Students will have two free weekends to either stay in
Christchurch or travel independently. However, two optional
excursions have been planned.
1. On Friday, 18 June, students may take an optional trip
on the TranzCoastal train from Christchurch to Picton in
the Marlborough Sounds and then sail across Cook Strait
(separating the North and South Islands) to Wellington,
New Zealand's capital. While there students will have
the opportunity to visit New Zealand's national museum,
Te Papa, New Zealand's parliament, the Beehive, and
take in the rest of the sites of this unique and vibrant
city.
2. Weather permitting (if there is enough early season
snow), on the weekend of June 26-27, students will have
the opportunity to visit internationally renowned ski-fields
Mount Hutt or Porter's Heights and rent equipment to
ski or snowboard.
